We are deeply saddened by the passing away of Dr. Manmohan Singh, a very distinguished economist, statesman, and visionary leader whose contributions have helped shape India and the global community. The economic liberalization of the 1990s, led by him, helped India emerged as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.
Dr. Singh made significant contributions to the academic and research landscape. Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), conceptualized by him during his tenure as the Governor of the Reserve Bank Of India, stands as a testament to his commitment to fostering research and education in development studies.
Dr. Singh’s humility and dedication to public service will continue to inspire generations to come. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family, colleagues, and all those who were touched by his life and work.
